Meet the Teachers
Darren Jones
Darren is an experienced fully qualified school music teacher and brass instrumentalist and has played with a wide variety of ensembles both in Australia and the UK.
Holding a certificate of performance from the London Guildhall School of Music and Drama, a Bachelor of Arts and a Post Graduate Certificate Of Education in Music, Darren is a firm believer in the use of music in a child's development.
A conductor, tutor, band trainer, adjudicator, composer, performer and arranger, Darren has worked with children and music from newborns to HSC students. Darren is also a member of the UNSWR Army Reserve Band.
Darren emigrated to Australia in 2007, and has full D.E.T teaching approval and currently works as a casual teacher, music professional and is also a Director of Wiggle And Giggle Music.
Darren is principal conductor of Killara High School's senior Concert Band, Epping Boy's High school Wind Band and is also a teacher of brass at St Ives Public school and as a private trumpet tutor.
Darren has several years experience conducting high school ensembles both here and in the UK and has conducted various types of ensembles including Wind Bands, Concert Bands, Swing Bands, Jazz Bands, Choirs, Orchestras, Brass Bands and African drum ensembles.
Darren is a practising musician, being a professional trumpet player for the University of New South Wales Army Regiment band, cornet player with National Australia Brass and has many years playing experience with both amateur and professional ensembles both here and in the UK.
Darren is the music co-ordinator for Aspect Central Coast School for children with Autism and carries out their specialist music classes at Terrigal as well as the satellite schools.
Darren is currently continuing his education undergoing further early childhood training with Kodaly - Music Education Institute of Australia.
Christina Jones
Christina is an experienced brass musician who has many years professional experience playing with the Australian Navy band and many of the top bands in Australia and the UK.
With 7 state titles to her name, Christina was also soloist and flugel horn player with Australian Brass and winner of the 2001 UK Open Solo Horn Championship.
A former qualified nanny and child carer of eight years ,Christina holds a post graduate degree in music performance and has a wealth of experience teaching music to individuals and groups of children.
Christina is also a qualified doula (birth coach) and has a keen interest in the positive effects pre natal stimulation (through the use of music, singing, and touch) can have on the unborn child.
